Microtubes

Quality features: Uniform lid thickness ensures trouble-free piercing. Consistent wall thickness. Tight fitting attached lid provides leak-free seal, yet reopens easily. High clarity. Autoclavable at 121 °C (2 bar), acc. DIN EN 285. Relative centrifugal force (RCF): The quoted permissible RCF values (identical to g values) refer to filling with water and 20 min centrifugation time at 20°C. However, the actual stress limit is affected to a large extent by conditions such as the positioning in the rotor, chemicals, temperature and running time. Therefore, the RCF values must only be understood as a general guide. (DIN 58970). Accessories: Microtube rack, PP. Stackable racks with alphanumerical positions. Operating temperature: -20 °C to + 90 °C. Autoclavable (121 °C (2 bar), acc. DIN EN 285). Density 1.2 g/ cm³. Will not float in waterbath. Racks are supplied in two-pieces (Ø 11 mm, for microtubes) or three-pieces (Ø 13 mm, for cryogenic tubes) for convenient and permanent assembly. Microtube rack, PP, grey. Numbered positions for 20 microcentrifuge tubes, 1.5 ml. Autoclavable (121 °C (2 bar),acc. DIN EN 285). 0.5 ml-adapter for grey tube rack, PP. Microtube racks can be equipped with inserts to accommodate 0.5 ml microtubes. Easy permanent assembly.

Microtubes with lid closure

More safety for valuable samples! These new 0.5 ml, 1.5 ml and 2.0 ml microctubes are available with an additional lid closure to achieve especially effective sealing and prevent accidental opening. Autoclavable at 121 °C and 2 bar (DIN EN 285), centrifugable up to 30,000 g, free of RNase, DNase, DNA and endotoxins, produced under cleanroom conditions, ISO 14 644-1, Class 8, made from high-quality medical-grade polypropylene, subdivisions at 0.1, 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 ml, matte labeling surfaces on the lid and tube. Details: Lid closure catch: The lid closure on the new BRAND 1.5 ml microtube protects against accidental opening of the lid. Wide lid rim: The wide lid rim facilitates manual handling. Microtubes are subjected to high stress during the denaturation of samples in boiling water, and under general and thermal demands.

Microtubes with screw cap

Screw cap microtubes are ideal for storage of serums and blood samples, and for boiling, centrifugation, etc. Versatile: Microtubes with screw caps are available in different formats, designs and quality grades. Microtubes of PP and screw caps of PE or PP are precisely matched to ensure a secure seal. With sealing cone: Microtubes with sealing cone are particularly suitable for the storage of sensitive samples, since they avoid the risk of contamination from existing silicone seals. These tubes are not autoclavable. With silicone seal: Micro tubes are sealed extremely well with silicone seals, without contact between the sample and the sealing ring. The containers are suitable for the storage of samples in the gaseous phase of liquid nitrogen. Microtubes with silicone seals are autoclavable up to 121 °C (2 bar), acc. DIN EN 285. With tamper-evident screw cap with silicone seal: The tamper-evident screw cap guarantees the user an uncontaminated sample. A visible ring acts as an antitamper seal, which breaks when the cap is first opened. The microtubes have a silicone seal, and are suitable for the storage of samples in the gaseous phase of liquid nitrogen. The microtubes with tamper-evident screw cap are autoclavable up to 121 °C (2 bar), acc. DIN EN 285.

Frequently Asked Questions (Microcentrifuge tubes)

What does SAL mean?

The Sterility Assurance Level (SAL) describes the probability of a product being non-sterile after it went through the sterilization process. BRAND designs the sterilization processes of its products for an extremely low SAL of 10-6 . "One in a million" devices could be non-sterile after the sterilization process.

Is it possible to sterilize BRAND micro tubes with y-radiation?

Only with some restriction. The mechanical strength of the material will deteriorate when exposed to γ-radiation. PP will become brittle resulting in a diminished permissable RCF. You can order sterilized micro tubes from BRAND ( Cat. No. 780400 and 780750-54 or 780755-59 ).

Does BRAND offer tubes for the storage of light-sensitive reagents?

BRAND offers amber-colored reaction tubes (1.5 ml, Cat. No 780525) which are particularly suitable for the storage of light-sensitive reagents.

Is it possible to sterilize BRAND micro tubes with ethylene oxide?

We do not sterilize the micro tubes with ethylene oxide. Should you like to test whether it works for your application, please ask for free samples. Please note that: 1.) during sterilization with ethylene oxide the tubes have to be out of the plastic package. 2.) after sterilization some ethylene oxide will remain in the material. You can order sterilized micro tubes from BRAND (Cat. No. 780400 and 780750-54 or 780755-59).

Which micro tubes can be stored in liquid nitrogen?

Micro tubes with screw caps with silicone seals (Cat. No. 780710-14, non-sterile, and 780750-54, sterile) can be used for storage in the gaseous phase of liquid nitrogen (-196 °C). Never submerge the tubes into the liquid phase, since intruded gas could cause the tubes to explode when heated up again.

Do BIO-CERT® products have an expiry-date?

All sterile BRAND products have a certain indicated shelf-life.

Which material are the microcentrifuge tubes made of?

BRAND microcentrifuge tubes are manufactured out of pure granular polypropylene. They are manufactured and packaged under clean room conditions.
